Visitors

All visitors must sign-in at the school office, you are required to wear a badge while on campus and sign-out upon leaving the school.

If you wish to visit the school, or speak with a staff member, please make an appointment with the teacher or staff member in advance. In order to ensure that instructional hours are not disturbed, please schedule your visit at least 30 minutes before or after school hours. Visits should be limited to 30 minutes unless other arrangements are made.

Application Process

At Desert Hills Career and Technical High School we pride ourselves in being a school of choice. Our students are not required to live in any specific boundaries to attend our school. In order to attend our school a student must place their name on a list and submit an educational mission statement. The student's name will then get selected through an independent lottery system that chooses students at random from the applications submitted.

 

Once accepted into the school the student will have to complete the following steps:

  • Register for student orientation.

  • Make an appointment to meet with the school counselor.

  • Turn in Student Packet

  • Register for classes

 

Intent to Return

Every year, current students have the first opportunity to re-enroll at Desert Hills Career and Technical High School. Ample notice is given to the student about re-enrollment. “Intent to Return” forms are typically sent home in January and due back to the school office in February. If an “Intent to Return” form is not turned in by the designated deadline noted on the form, the student will lose his/her place and will be required to enter the lottery process. NO EXCEPTIONS.

 

Independent Study

If there is an emergency, and you need to miss more than 3 days, you MUST tell the school and teachers and fill out Independent Study papers before the absence occurs with 48 hours advance notice. All forms must be accurate and signed by all required signatures prior to the absence. Not all request will be granted. Class work must be turned in promptly upon return to school in order for the student to receive credit.

Independent Study requires two forms that must be picked-up in the office. One is on yellow paper and another is in triplicate.
